Frequently asked.
Every answer is on the page rather than hidden behind an arrow, so you can search it with your browser and read the whole thing in a couple of minutes.
Getting started
What is Remmy?
A coach that lives in your messages. He texts you first every day, works out your calorie target from your actual body and training, reads photos of your food, keeps the count of every day you showed up, and holds you to what you said you would do. There is no app and no login.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Everything happens over text, in the app you already have open.
How do I sign up?
Tap Get started on the home page and send the text it writes for you. On a computer you scan a QR code and it opens Messages on your phone the same way.
He replies in seconds, introduces himself, and asks what you are actually trying to fix. That conversation is the entire setup.
Does it work on Android?
Yes. It runs over iMessage on iPhone and Google Messages on Android.
How he works
Will he text me first, or do I have to remember?
He goes first. A plan in the morning and a follow up in the evening, whether or not you replied to the last one. That is the whole reason this works when four apps in a row did not: they waited for you to come back, and on the day you needed them most, you did not.
How often will he message me?
Twice a day as a rule, and more if you are in the middle of a conversation with him. Nothing is ever sent overnight.
What happens if I miss a day?
He notes it, asks what happened, and moves the week around it. He will not reset a streak to zero and make five good weeks feel like nothing.
He also will not pretend he did not notice. If "tomorrow" has come up four times, he will say so.
Does he really remember what I told him?
The sentence you typed and the day you typed it, not a goal in a database. Six months in he still has week one, and that is usually the point at which the excuses stop working.
Can I change my goal later?
Yes, just tell him. If what you are training for changes, or your week changes, say so and he adjusts what he holds you to.
Food and tracking
Do I have to log my food?
Send a photo of it instead. He identifies what is on the plate, estimates the portion, gives you the calories and the full macro split, and keeps your running total for the day.
A voice note works too, and so does just telling him what you ate.
Where does my calorie target come from?
Your resting burn worked out from your height, weight and age, plus what your training week actually costs you, minus the deficit you agreed to. It moves as you do, because a number that was right in week one is wrong by week six.
What about meal prep, or food I eat every week?
Meal prep gets divided into the portions you actually eat, and anything you have regularly is saved so you never enter it twice.
Can he tell if I actually went to the gym?
He asks for proof and logs what you send: gym photos, screenshots from other apps, the scale, voice notes. Saying it and doing it are not the same thing and he knows the difference.
Money and billing
What does it cost?
Seven days free, then $17.99 a month or $149.99 a year. A card is needed to start, the same way a gym takes one, and he tells you in the thread a full day before the free week ends so the first charge is never a surprise.
How do I cancel?
Tell him to stop, or email support. One message, no form, no phone call, and no flow designed to wear you down. You keep access until the period you paid for runs out.
Do you store my card details?
No. Payments are handled by Stripe and your full card number never reaches us.
Can I switch between monthly and yearly?
Yes. Email support@remmy.ai and we will move you over and sort out the difference.
What if my payment fails?
Nothing dramatic happens immediately. Email support@remmy.ai if you need a hand updating the card and we will take it from there.
Can I get a refund?
Tell us what happened at support@remmy.ai. A real person reads it and we would rather sort it out than argue with you about it.
Your number and your account
What happens if my number changes?
Email support@remmy.ai and tell us the old number and the new one, and we move your history across so your streak, your goals and everything he remembers come with you.
Do it before you give up the old number if you can, but if it has already gone, we can still sort it out.
I got a new phone. Do I lose anything?
No. Everything is tied to your number, not to the handset, so a new phone changes nothing. Restore your messages or do not, either way he still has the record.
He has stopped texting me.
First check that STOP was not sent from your phone by accident, since that ends messages immediately. If that is not it, email support@remmy.ai and we will find out why rather than guess.
I replied STOP and I want to come back.
Start the conversation again the same way you did the first time, or email support@remmy.ai and we will switch you back on with your history intact.
Can I change what time he texts me?
Tell him what your days look like and he works around it. If you want something specific and it is not sticking, email support@remmy.ai.
Can I pause instead of cancelling?
Email support@remmy.ai and tell us how long you need. Injuries, holidays and busy months are normal and we would rather hold your place than lose you.
Can I use it outside the US?
Ask us first at support@remmy.ai with the country and we will tell you honestly whether it will work properly for you rather than take your money and find out.
Anything else at all
Email support@remmy.ai or use the contact page. A person reads every message, usually gets back within 24 hours, and can see enough of your account to actually fix things rather than send you in a circle.
Privacy and your data
Do you sell my data?
No. Not your phone number, not your conversations, not your photos, not any of it.
This is not a promise invented for a marketing page. It is written into the privacy policy in the same words.
Who can actually see my messages?
The service runs on a small number of providers that are needed to make it work: message delivery, the AI that generates his replies and reads your photos, hosting for your account, and Stripe for payment. They are only permitted to use your information to run the service for us, and for nothing of their own.
How is my information protected?
We take reasonable measures to protect what you share, and card details never reach us at all because Stripe handles payment.
No system is perfect and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. What we will say plainly is that your information is not a product we trade.
Can I get my data deleted?
Yes. Email support@remmy.ai and ask, and we will delete it. You can also ask for a copy of everything we hold on you first.
If you are in California, the EU or the UK you have specific legal rights to access, correct and delete your information, and those are honoured as the law requires. Everyone else gets the same treatment anyway.
How long do you keep my messages?
For as long as your account is active and you want a coach who remembers week one, and afterwards only as long as there is a legitimate business or legal reason. You can ask for deletion at any point.
What happens to the photos I send?
They are used to do the thing you sent them for: identify the food, log the check-in, keep your record. They are not published anywhere and they are not sold.
The fine print
Will this cost me in messages?
Message and data rates may apply, the same as texting anyone else. Message frequency varies with how you use the service.
How do I stop the messages?
Reply STOP at any time and messages end. Reply HELP for assistance.
Is Remmy a personal trainer or a doctor?
No. Remmy is software, and his replies are generated by AI. He is not a personal trainer, a doctor or a dietitian, and nothing he says replaces professional medical, fitness or nutrition advice.
If something hurts, or you have a condition that food and training affect, talk to an actual professional.
Who is behind this?
One person, still. There is more on the about page, including why it exists.
